Hard days
Your list was written by someone else
Seven items. Written in a good hour by a version of you with a full battery. Today you're running on the red sliver, and the list hasn't noticed. So the day turns into an argument you keep losing. One thing done badly. The next one dodged. By afternoon the page looks like a report card you failed.
That list isn't a law. You wrote it without today's information. Look again. At least two items aren't due today, don't matter today, or were never yours. Days get renegotiated all the time. The cigarette used to be your permission slip to stop for five minutes. It charged rent on a break you were always allowed to take.
Open it now. Cross one item off for good, and give another one a new date. Do it on the list itself, not in your head, where everything stays vaguely owed forever. If someone's waiting on the one you moved, send a plain line saying it'll be Thursday. No apology. No report on your mood. People move things every day. Today you get to be one of them.
Manna came one day at a time. Nobody was told to gather the whole week's on a Monday. God still gives strength like that, a day's worth. Cut the page down to what a tired person can carry, then carry that. Let the rest wait for a stronger week. You didn't get free to take orders from a sheet of paper. A short list finished beats a long one that broke you.
