Hard days

Waiting to feel like it

Motivation isn't coming today. You could wait by the window for it all afternoon. On heavy days it skips the visit. Your mood follows your hands, not the other way around. One small move is enough to start it.

Make the bed. That's the whole move. Pull the sheet tight, square the pillow, smooth the blanket. Ninety seconds. A made bed is the first straight line in a crooked day. It's proof that something moved, and you moved it.

On stuck days, the cigarette felt like doing something. It was the one move that kept you parked. A small move now goes somewhere. Stack a second one if it shows up. Answer one message. Rinse three dishes. Aim for the next twenty minutes, not the whole day.

You already know this works, because it's how you're quitting. Not one heroic decision. A pile of small kept promises, and God was in every one, carrying what you couldn't. Today gets the same treatment. Ninety seconds, and a free day is already moving.
