Hard days

The repair you can't feel yet

Something good happened today, and you missed it. You were busy feeling low, which is fair. Low days are loud. They drown out everything else, including the work going on underneath. Your mood isn't the whole report.

A cut heals under a bandage whether you check it or not. You don't peel it back every hour. The mending just happens. Right now your brain is doing that kind of work, relearning how to run without nicotine. The cigarette kept reopening the cut and handing you the bandage. Every hour without it, the cut gets to close.

None of this waits for a good mood. Healing doesn't check how you feel before it clocks in. Urges fade as you keep outlasting them. Whatever withdrawal is left keeps easing. The money stays yours. On your worst day, you're still healing.

Give the mending a head start tonight. Get into bed twenty minutes earlier than usual. A lot of repair happens while you sleep. On the way, say one line. Mend what I can't feel, Lord. The One who watches over you never sleeps. One morning you'll notice. The healing got there first.
