Hard days
The day still needs bones
Who's going to see you anyway? That's the reasoning behind skipping the shower. Staying in bed past the point of rest. Eating standing up at four, then again at eleven. None of it feels like a decision. A day never loses its shape in one move. It comes apart piece by piece, each piece with a decent excuse, until nothing's holding it up.
The fix is four bones that stand whether you feel like anything or not. Same wake time. Something eaten in the morning. A shower, then real clothes. Lights down around your usual hour. None of them needs motivation or a good attitude. They're not achievements. They're the frame the day hangs on.
On a good day, motivation carries the structure. On a day like this, the structure carries you. Regular sleep and regular food tell your body things are safe, and it can ease off the alarm. The cigarette ran your body on its own timetable of highs and dips, and passed that off as normal.
Do the four things badly. Get up at the usual hour and be useless after. Eat something plain. Stand in the shower with zero enthusiasm. God set evening and morning in place before He made anything that breathed. You can lean on His rhythm when you can't find your own. Keep the bones. Let the rest wait. The clock is finally yours.
