Hard days
Reviewing a house that isn't built
You should be further along by now. That sentence has been on repeat all day, and it brought friends. Weak. Behind. Still struggling with this. It sounds like honesty. It's a critic reviewing a house that isn't finished.
Nobody writes a one star review for a house that's still framed. Bare studs, a tarp for a roof, sawdust everywhere. That's a job site, and it's supposed to look like that. You're a job site right now, and the critic is grading scaffolding.
Ask where that deadline came from. The cigarette taught you to expect relief in seconds, so real change feels painfully slow. Rebuilding runs on a different clock. And the harsh voice has a bad record. It's never once built anything in you. Whatever distance you've made came from somewhere kinder.
Try one swap. Imagine a friend stuck in your exact week, same struggle, same doubts. Say out loud what you'd tell them. Maybe this. You're in the middle of something hard, and you keep showing up. Now say it again with your own name in it. The God who won't break a bruised reed isn't writing one star reviews. The house is going up. Save the review for when it's done.
