Hard days
Hand someone the jar
Who knows how today's really going? If the honest answer is nobody, notice that. You've gone inward. Door closed, answers short, carrying all of it solo. It can feel like strength. Alone is where the cigarette always got the last word.
You know the jar that won't open. You twist until your palm burns, then pass it over and it pops in one turn. You loosened it. They just finished what you started. Hard days work like that. Heavy feelings shrink when someone else sees them. They grow in the dark.
Let one person in. A text is enough. Rough day, nothing to fix, just wanted you to know. They don't need to say anything wise. Being known is the help. You were never built to carry life by yourself. The strength you've been running on came from God in the first place.
And there's one line that's open at any hour. God, stay close tonight. Short prayers count. He's listening before you finish. Once someone else knows how today's going, the cigarette loses the last word. Pass the jar. You've already done half the work.
