Hard days

Easy for them, hard for you

"Oh, I just stopped." Someone said it the way you'd mention switching phone plans. No bad nights. No counting anything. You nodded along, and something in you went cold. You've had evenings that took everything you had. Their easy story landed on you like a report card.

Difficulty isn't a grade. Two people catch the same flu. One's up in two days, the other's flat for two weeks. Nobody calls the second one weak. Bodies differ. Histories differ. Nicotine dug in deep, then tried to pin the digging on you. How hard it is to leave says nothing about the person leaving.

Hard ground teaches what easy ground can't. Someone who wandered out without noticing may not know where the exit was. You'll know yours by heart. Which hours are dangerous. Which moods lie. What your hands do instead. God knows how deep it went in you, and He's walking every mile of this with you. Freedom that cost you something gets held carefully.

Let them keep their easy story. Pray over your own. My road, not theirs. Keep me on it. Then name your hardest hour and set out something for your hands to hold. You're not slower. You're carrying more. And when that hour comes, you'll know exactly where the exit is.
