Your word is good again
The cigarette took something sneakier than money. It took your trust in your own word. Maybe you remember the “last one” that wasn't, or the fresh start that fizzled by Thursday. Each broken promise taught the same lesson. Your promises to yourself were only suggestions.
You know the friend who kept canceling plans? After a while you stop believing them. Then they start showing up. Once, twice, ten times, early. Something in you relaxes. You said you'd show up today, and here you are. You were that friend to yourself. Look who keeps showing up now.
And it spreads. Watch what happens to your other promises. The early alarm. The walk you said you'd take. The hard conversation you kept putting off. The belief underneath is flipping, and that's worth more than anything the habit cost you. When I decide, it's decided.
God keeps His word to you, and He made you in His image. Tonight, make one small promise for tomorrow and keep it before lunch. Easy on purpose. Make the bed. Answer that email. Then enjoy the small click of a promise kept. I said I would. I did. My word is good again.
