Your life has an opening date

Some bakeries paint the year they opened right above the door. Est. 1962. Nobody puts that up by accident. It's a small brag. We started here, and we're still going. You have a date like that now.

Most big dates happen to people. A move, a storm, a phone call out of nowhere. Yours didn't. Nobody scheduled your freedom or handed it over. You chose it, then walked it in one ordinary day at a time. It's the rare milestone you get to write yourself.

Look at the two eras side by side. Before, your days were arranged around a cigarette. It booked the appointments and you showed up on time. After, the mornings belong to you and the plans start with your name. The after doesn't make noise. Real eras don't have to. They just keep going.

Write your date somewhere you'll see it. Inside a notebook. On a card in your wallet. If the date has moved before, the new one counts just the same. God was there that day, and He's in every day since. Est. the day I chose it. Still going.
