Why bother with the dentist?
Why book the dentist? Why take the walk, or go to bed early, or answer the checkup reminder you keep swiping away? Some part of you had filed your health under lost cause. It wasn't laziness. It was math. Once the big number's written off, nobody chases the small ones.
That verdict came from the cigarette, and it got you to sign it. God never did. He kept this body going through every day of it, like it was always worth the trouble. Now the biggest line is off the page, and the whole sum changes shape. The walk counts. The early night counts. The ledger's open again.
Underneath all of it ran a deeper habit. Treat yourself like a lost cause, then act like one. Every small act of care votes against that verdict. A booked checkup. A real breakfast. A walk around the block. You don't argue a write off away. You outvote it.
Pick the one you wrote off first. The dentist, the eye exam, the physical, the mole you keep meaning to show someone. Book it before you close this. It'll feel strange, like planning for a future you'd stopped expecting. Let God in on it. You kept this body going. Now I'll help. You're making plans for a body you intend to keep.
