Becoming free
The view you haven't seen yet
"Not really my kind of thing." Maybe you said it halfway up a trail, or on the steps of some monument, hands on your knees, pretending to admire the scenery. Then you waited in the parking lot and made a joke about it. One hard climb got filed as a fact about you.
Some of that ceiling was never you. Nicotine speeds up your heart. Climb soon after a cigarette and every step can cost more than it should. Of course you stopped. Anyone carrying that load would have. The cigarette turned one hard hill into a whole identity.
Labels like that rarely get retested. They get lived around. Not sporty. Not outdoorsy. Not built for it. A ceiling nobody tests can lift without you ever finding out. The only way to know is to go back up. God never signed off on that label.
Pick the place tonight. Text one person the day you're going, so it's real. Go slow and stop whenever you want. Finishing slowly still counts. At the bottom, before the first step, talk to Him. You made these legs. Walk up with me. The view hasn't moved. You have.
