The no you already forgot
Someone offered. Recently enough that you could name the room. You said no. Then the talk moved on, and so did you. No text to a friend. No victory lap on the way home. It slipped your mind so fast that this is the first time it's come back. That forgetting is the loudest win you've got.
Effort is memorable. Anything that costs you gets filed and replayed. You can recite the hard moments in order, because each one took a bite. What slides right past your memory is what cost nothing. A cigarette used to eat whole afternoons of your thinking. Now it can't even earn a memory.
That's the line between a decision and a fact about you. A decision leaves marks. A clenched jaw. A story you tell later. A fact sits there needing no upkeep. Nobody walks in the door bragging they didn't steal a car today. Smoking just isn't something you do anymore.
Before it slips away again, give it one moment of daylight. Tell God, since He was standing right there. Saying no cost me nothing. Thank You. Then let it sink back into the ordinary, where it belongs. Forgettable is what winning looks like from the inside.
