The hours you swore you didn't have

"I don't have time." You've said it about the gym, the guitar, the book on your nightstand, the call you keep meaning to make. It felt true every time you said it. The time existed. It was already spoken for.

Run your own numbers, nobody else's. How many times a day did you smoke? Now add every minute around it. Stepping away, coming back, the restock runs, the planning of when you'd get the next one. Multiply by seven, then by the weeks in a year. The answer stops being minutes and starts being days.

It's like a phone that dies by three for no reason, until you find the app running in the background all day. The cigarette was that app, draining your day a few minutes at a time. Every break cost the break, plus the time it took to find your focus again. You weren't too busy. You were interrupted, on a schedule.

Those hours are back in your hands, and hours with no assignment get eaten by nothing. Give them one today. Pick the thing you've postponed longest and take its first thirty minutes before the day finds an excuse. Pray as you start. Show me what these hours are for. God handed them back. Spend them on something you'd be proud to be caught doing.

This is one day of Unsmoked.
