The good news you haven't told
Things are changing, and you've been noticing. A morning when your first thought was the day, not a cigarette. Money left at the end of the week, and you knew why. A whole movie without planning your exit. You caught every one. Then you let each drift off, unsaid. Nobody else has heard a word.
An unsaid thought sits in your drafts. It shifts, it fades, it's gone by the weekend. Said to a person, it's sent. It gets a timestamp and a witness, and your memory files it somewhere sturdier. That's why vows get spoken in front of a room. The cigarette stole all of this so slowly that nobody saw it go. The return deserves a witness.
It'll land harder on them than on you. The people close to you may have carried a worry they rarely said out loud. They've had no ceremony either. And someone within earshot might be stuck, watching to see if this is possible for a person like them. Your one sentence could be the proof they needed.
Pick one person and one of those moments this week. Keep it small and true, said at a normal moment. Something like, "I had money left over this week, and I know why." Then let it sit. God did this in plain sight. Thank Him where someone can hear. Gratitude with a witness stays put, in both of you.
