Put down the clipboard
Six inspections before lunch. A morning read on your mood. A midday scan for incoming cravings. A mental note about sleep, and another about how you handled that call. It's all well meant. You've been running a daily audit on one person, and the person is you.
Close watching was the right tool at the start. The ground was new and the pull was loud. But a tool can outstay its job. Every check reminds you there's something to check. All that watching lets the cigarette keep collecting your attention without ever showing up.
Every skill has a stage where you watch yourself do it. Then comes the stage where you just do it. Letting go of the monitoring isn't careless. It's graduation. Nobody rests under their own supervision. You're allowed to stop grading the day at bedtime. Freedom doesn't need an auditor to stay real.
Close the project today. Keep the session, keep the honesty, drop the surveillance. If a check has no decision attached, skip it. This evening, do one ordinary thing with no review after. Cook. Walk. Sit with someone you like. God keeps watch over you and never dozes off, so you can put the clipboard down. The result was always meant to be lived in.
