Beating cravings

The you of one hour from now

There are two versions of the next hour. In one, you gave in: the cigarette is gone, the 'relief' already faded, and you're standing in the same evening minus your streak and plus a fresh craving. In the other, you waited it out and you're standing in the same evening — still free, and quietly proud.

Same evening either way. The craving never changes what the hour holds; it only changes who's holding it — a person who obeyed, or a person who didn't. That's the entire difference, and it's yours to pick.

So do the future self a favor they'll actually feel: wait. Not forever — just until the wave breaks, which is minutes away. The you of one hour from now is already thanking you. The you of tomorrow morning is thanking you louder.

God gave you the ability to imagine that hour before it happens — use the gift. Walk to it free. It's a short walk, and you've made it dozens of times.
