Beating cravings
Your hands are still shaking
Unclench your jaw. The door just shut, or the call just ended, and your body is primed for a fight that isn't coming. Heart pounding. Hands unsteady. Anger cravings come in fast and loud. Your body wants to get rid of something, now, and it remembers the quickest exit it ever had.
The cigarette was never comfort. It was a pressure valve that worked in minutes and left you needing it again. This urge is barely about nicotine. It's a shaken bottle looking for a way to hiss. Give the pressure a better way out and it goes.
Drop and do twenty pushups, right now. Floor, wall, kitchen counter, whatever's closest. Go until your arms complain. Still hot? Twenty more. Then watch what happens as your heart slows. The pull shrinks right along with it. They came in together, and they leave together.
Say it to God through clenched teeth if you have to. Cool my head before I open my mouth. He's heard worse, and He stays. Whatever you were about to say, you'll say it better in ten minutes. Kinder, too, which matters. Burning arms, slower heart, clearer words. You just spent the anger on something that makes you stronger.
