Beating cravings
You didn't pack a loophole
New bed. Strange ceiling. Nobody here knows what you're working on. Your usual days are a long way off, and the urge has noticed. So it shows up with a travel exception. Trips have their own rules, it says. This week doesn't count. What happens out here stays out here.
One problem with that. You didn't take a vacation from yourself. The person who heads home at the end is the one standing here now. They carry this week into next Monday and the Monday after. Distance changes the view. The cigarette wants you to believe your freedom has a home address.
Trips feel harder for a plain reason. Your anchors are missing. No familiar kitchen, no usual walk, no hour that means something. You're not weaker out here. You're just less supported, and that's fixable in two minutes. Unpack right now. Clothes in a drawer. Shoes by the door. Charger where you can reach it. Make this room look like someone free lives here.
Then pick three anchors for the rest of the stay. A walk. A bedtime. One thing to do with your hands. Let those carry you. God didn't stay home either. Say it to the ceiling. You came with me. Stay close in here. Different address. Same free you.
