Hard days
On the heavy days
Some days are just heavy, and today might be one of them. First, be gentle with yourself — low days are normal, especially early on, and they are not a sign you're failing. They're a sign you're human, doing a hard and worthy thing.
The old story said a cigarette would lift the heaviness. It never really did. Nicotine borrows a few minutes of relief and charges interest — it raises your baseline stress and flattens your mood over time, so the heavy days came partly because of it, not in spite of it. Staying free is one of the kindest things you can do for the very mood that's low right now.
You don't have to fix everything today. Small things genuinely help: a few minutes outside, water, a short walk, a message to someone who loves you, a moment of honest prayer. None of them are dramatic. All of them are real. Pick one.
And remember you're not carrying this alone. The God who made you is near the brokenhearted — you can hand Him the weight you can't put down. Get through today gently. You don't need to be strong; you just need to not light the fuse. That's enough, and you're already doing it.
