Beating cravings
Maybe you're just hungry
When did you last eat? Who have you talked to today? Is something from earlier still stuck in your throat? How did you sleep? Answer those before you believe a word this craving says. A lot of cravings are a real need in a fake costume.
Imagine a car with one warning light for everything. Low oil, flat tire, empty tank, same light. You'd never fix the right thing. The cigarette did that to your dashboard. Hungry, angry, lonely, tired. It stuck one label on all four, and a cigarette fixes none of them. So the light kept coming back on.
Pick the loudest of the four and feed it, right now. Hungry? Eat something real. Toast, a banana, last night's leftovers. Angry? Walk it off, fast, even if it's laps of the room. Lonely? Call somebody. Tired? Lie down for ten minutes with your eyes closed. God gave you a body that tells you what it needs, and He's glad when you listen.
Feed the real hunger and the fake one has nothing to eat. This isn't willpower. It's reading your own gauges right. Watch what happens to the urge once the real need gets met. The light was never asking for a cigarette, and you just proved it.
