Beating cravings
End the meal on purpose
You just ate. You're full. So why does the table feel unfinished? The last bite and the reach used to be one smooth motion, no gap anywhere. Now the meal hits its old finish line and your body notices a step is missing. It isn't hungry. It's following a script.
The cigarette parked itself in the last minute of every meal and passed itself off as dessert. It didn't add a thing to the food. It just claimed the lingering. That soft lean back, full and slow, nothing required of you. Skip that minute and the urge has nowhere to sit down.
Thank God for the meal, then get up. Right now. Plate to the sink. Then wash it by hand, start to finish. Warm water, soap, both hands busy. It's a period at the end of the sentence. Rinsed, dried, put away. The meal is over, and your hands know it.
Sit back down afterward if you like. The chair's fine. The lingering minute is gone, and that minute was all the urge had. It works the same at breakfast, lunch and every meal after. The habit needed you in that chair, and you got up.
